EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 Packaging
The EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500’s hefty box comes in a simple white-themed background with the branding is located on the upper-right corner.
Let’s take a good view of the front side first. The product lineup and product model is indicated on top-left. In the middle, you’ll see a sample picture of how the headset looks. On the bottom-left, some audio key features are displayed.
At the backside, there’s a brief description of the headset’s build quality. They’ve included other major languages as well, as this is sold internationally.
On the left side of the box, you’ll see the accessories included and device compatibility. The right side has technical data, where you’ll see how it operates, as well as the weight and cable length, which is very important.
Inside the Box
The headset feels heavy and sturdy, and it can be flexed without breaking anything. The headset’s durability and build quality also determine what you’ve paid for, and the EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 is a big win.
Lastly, we’re going to unbox the small box. Inside the small box are another technical specifications sheet, safety instructions paper, quick guide booklet, a GSA 505 PC Cable (2.5 m), and a GSA 506 Console Cable (1.5 m).
Overall, we’re pretty impressed with how the product was packed. For sure, this headset will be safe when shipped overseas. Let’s now move on to the design and functionality.
EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 Review – Design and Functionality
Now let’s talk about its build design and the premium functions in this section of our EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 review.
Instead of the usual leather material, they’ve changed it to the soft fabric. This is mostly because the headset is designed as an open-back headset.
With an open-back design, you’ll be able to hear what’s going on outside and make your ears a lot cooler. Not only that, but it also widens the sound stage, making your gaming experience much more immersive. The ear cups also have holes on the upper side, where the sound will leak a little.
The headset also has a low clamping force to provide a great fit and comfort meaning you’ll be able to wear this headset on longer sessions.
If there are any downsides of having an open-back headset, it’s that people around you might be able to hear what you’re listening to. Also, your microphone might pick up some noise coming from your headset. But this shouldn’t be a big deal, since open-back headsets are designed that way.
You can easily remove the fabric earcup by sticking one finger inside, then pulling it backwards. You could probably change it to a leather foam to improve isolation if you’re not used to open-back headsets.
The microphone will automatically mute if you slide it upwards. Both other sides of ear cups have a circular slider; with the left one for microphone, and the right one for volume adjustment.
Now that we’re done with the design section of the headset let’s move on to the key features.
Key Features of the EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500
In this section of our EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 review, we’re going to highlight all the key features that make it an excellent product.
Maximum Comfort
First of all, the EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 Gaming Headset has excellent, sufficiently-sized earcups. The EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 sports a thick cushion made of fabric. While there is no noise cancellation on the drivers, there’s lesser heat buildup on your ears.
Fabric is used on the surroundings of the earcups, but the material used around it is leatherette.
Open-back Comfort
ESports Players rarely use Open-Back gaming headsets due to the crowd noise. Speaking of which, the GSP 500 Gaming Headset’s design allows for ambient and outside noise to get through, which helps you during emergencies.
While it isn’t ideal for eSports, the ear cup design fits your ears perfectly and puts a balance between comfort and functionality. If you’re at home and it’s a summer season, this headset is going to help you.
A Robust and Sturdy Build
Most minimalist people might find it annoying, but the EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500’s build is bulky. This is still a good trade-off, considering the build quality is durable.
The EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 Headset is built to last long and ensures that the components inside wouldn’t break. Other times, you might drop this headset accidentally, but that isn’t going to damage it.
Tactile Feedback
Both the volume control and the microphone can easily be accessed through the other side of both ear cups. They click as you adjust it, letting you know if it’s spinning. With this design, you can easily adjust the microphone and volume on-the-go. This adds to the whole immersive nature of the EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500.
Adjustable Pressure Sliders
While the frame of EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 is largely due to its robust & sturdy build design, they’ve provided adjustable sliders on top to adjust the clamping force.
EPOS|SENNHEISER did an excellent job of making the headset fit for their consumers. They’re going to improve it as they make more gaming headsets.
eSports-Certified Equipment
Lastly, the EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 has an excellent microphone quality that ensures clean communication to you and your teammates. There’s no static and audio distortion present.
Most notably, when tested both in-game and in more everyday tasks, the microphone performs excellently in general. It accurately delivers voice quality that no other headphones have.
Now, let’s move on to the next section of our EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 review, the specifications.

Now, let’s talk about the drivers. The drivers have a 10 – 30,000 Hz of frequency response, 28 Ω impedance, and a sound pressure level of 107 dB SPL @ 1 kHz, 1V RMS. The open-back design makes the sound more immersive and wide.
For the microphone, it has a frequency response of 10 – 18,000 Hz, a pick-up pattern of Bi-directional ECM, and with a sensitivity of -47 dbV/PA.
Lastly, the EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 headset is 220 mm in length, 100 mm in Width, and 240 mm in Height.
Hands-on with the EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500
This is the part of our EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 review where we’re going to try the product. We’ll also share our thoughts and opinions about it.
Wearing a heavy headset can be bothersome. But with the EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500, comfort is easily achieved.
Since the clamping force isn’t too tight, you can wear this for a long period. While this sits in your ear, it doesn’t feel heavy. Having this headset feels like it’s just floating on your ears.
The EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 is by far, one of the best gaming headsets in the market and it delivers fantastic sound quality.
Playing open-world games gave us an immersive experience, in which we could hear the environment and accurately pinpoint the location of the sound.
When it comes to competitive FPS games like CS:GO, the footsteps and other noises are incredibly accurate. The soundstage during gaming is absolutely amazing.
The EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 gives a lot of immersive feeling and it really does make you feel like you’re inside the game.
The microphone’s quality is superb. The bass and treble of your voice are there, and there’s only a slight compression sound while you’re talking. As for the noise, the microphone picks up the keyboard quite a bit, but it isn’t bothersome.
The EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 features a unidirectional flexible boom mic with adjustable pick-up position and can help with noise reduction. The microphone is non-detachable, but you can mute it when you slide it back up.
EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 Review Summary
We’re finally down to summarise our EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 review. Let’s break down our opinions on why we think this headset is excellent.
Overall, the EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 is a good buy if you can afford it. Not all users are willing to pay $229.95 for a gaming headset. There are lots of cheaper options out there, but if you can afford this headset, go for it.
Plus, open-back headsets rarely appear in the market. If they would, it would probably be expensive as well.
To conclude our EPOS|SENNHEISER GSP 500 review, we were delighted with the product. We recommend this headset for everyone who wants a comfortable open-back headset, as long as they can afford it. The headset performed well in everything we tested generally. If you’d like to purchase this product, click here.
