Mit dem Bestreben seine Produktpalette voneinander zu trennen, hat Sennheiser mit EPOS ein komplett eigenständiges Unternehmen seine Gaming-Serie gegründet. Dieser clevere Schachzug ermöglicht den Kunden nun eine klare Unterscheidung zwischen den auf Studios fokussierten Geräten des Unternehmens und dem Gaming-Zubehör. Mit der GSP Produktlinie hat EPOS zahlreiche kabelgebundene sowie kabellose Gaming Headsets im Sortiment, welche neben einer robusten Bauweise auch mit tollem Klang überzeugen möchten. Das surround Sound Gaming Headset GSP 370 konnte uns im Test bereits überzeugen, doch wie sieht es mit der neuen GSP 600er Serie aus? Wir haben das “GSP 602” Stereo Gaming Headset auf den Prüfstand geschickt und verraten euch im Test, warum es nicht immer ein surround Sound Headset sein muss und sich eine Anschaffung definitiv lohnen kann.

Die GSP 600er Serie umfasst insgesamt drei verschiedene Modelle. Obwohl diese zwar unterschiedliche Modell-Nummern haben, unterscheiden sie sich lediglich bei den Farbvariationen. So wurde der Look des GSP 600 in Schwarz und Rot gehalten, während das GSP 601 in Schwarz/Weiß und das GSP 602 in Blau/Braun dominieren. Wie bereits in der Einleitung erwähnt, haben wir uns für das GSP 602 entschieden, da es mir persönlich am besten gefällt – schick sind sie aber alle, keine Frage.

EPOS│SENNHEISER steht vor allem für Qualität und auch das GSP 602 macht hier keine Ausnahme. Das GSP 602 ist auffallend und im Gegensatz zum schlanken zurückhaltenden Rahmen des GSP 370, dreht sich beim GSP 602 alles um Nähte, Schrauben und andere industriell anmutende Komponenten. Das Erscheinungsbild wirkt insgesamt sehr wertig, auch wenn die aus Kunststoff gefertigten Träger, welche die Ohrmuscheln umgeben, eher plastisch aussehen und somit das Premium-Preisschild des Headsets untergraben. Obwohl das GSP 602 aufgrund der Größe und des Gewichts von knapp 400 Gramm nicht zu den schlanksten Headsets auf dem Markt zählt, ist es in Wirklichkeit echt komfortabel.

Die großen Ohrmuscheln umschließen die Ohren vollständig und üben einen festen Druck aus, der durch die weichen Ohrpolster gedämpft wird und nie zu stark ist. Somit bleibt das Headset auch bei ruckartigen Kopfbewegungen fest auf seinen Platz und selbst nach einigen Stunden verspürt man kein lästiges Drücken. Löblich zu erwähnen ist auch die Atmungsaktivität der Ohrmuschel-Polsterung, die ein Schwitzen deutlich reduziert! Einzig allein die Polsterung des Kopfbügels hätte etwas üppiger ausfallen können, da der Kunststoffrand bei bestimmten Winkeln stellenweise auf den Kopf drückt.

Apropos Ohrmuscheln! Auf der rechten Ohrmuschel befindet sich ein großer Lautstärkeregler, der sich sich stufenlos drehen und im Mute-Modus einrasten lässt. Die linke Ohrmuschel beherbergt den schwenkbaren Mikrofonarm, der beim Hochklappen das Mikrofon automatisch mutet, wie wir es bereits vom GSP 370 kennen. Zusätzlich befindet sich unter dem Mikrofonarm der Klinkenstecker, welcher von einer Metallhülse umgeben ist und somit den Anschluss sowie den Stecker vor Beschädigungen schützt.

SATTER SOUND

Das GSP 602 ist ein kabelgebundenes Headset, das einen 3,5-mm-Anschluss anstelle der zunehmend üblichen USB- oder USB-C-Anschlüsse verwendet. Das ist aus Kompatibilitätsgründen großartig, denn somit lässt sich das Headset auf jeder erdenklichen Plattform nutzen.

Im Lieferumfang sind zwei geflochtene 3,5-mm-Kabel enthalten. Ein zweiadriges Kabel für die Trennung von Headset- und Mikrofon-Audio an PCs und ein einadriges Kabel für andere Geräte. Das gute an der Klinkenstecker-Variante ist, dass alles Plug-and-Play ist und somit keine zusätzliche Software installiert oder Audiotreiber konfiguriert werden müssen.

Bevor ich auf die Soundqualität eingehe, möchte ich an dieser Stelle nochmals erwähnen, dass es sich beim GSP 602 um ein reines Stereo Headset handelt. Das mag im ersten Moment etwas merkwürdig wirken, da der virtuelle surround Sound in den letzten Jahren immer häufiger und beeindruckender geworden ist, aber dennoch verfälscht dieser durch den meist übertriebenen Halleffekt das Klangbild. Bei einem Stereo-Headset ist das nicht der Fall und somit sind diese auch die bevorzugte Wahl in der eSports Szene.

Angetrieben wird das GSP 602 von Treibern mit einem Frequenzbereich von 10–30.000 Hz und einem Schalldruckpegel von 112 dB SPL @ 1 kHz, 1V RMS. Den Soundtest haben wir wie immer mit diversen Dolby Trailern und unserem bevorzugten Spiel “Post Scriptum” vollzogen und was soll ich sagen,… das GSP 602 klingt großartig. Egal ob ein Schuss, eine Explosion oder das knattern wenn ein Panzer vorbeifährt, der wiedergegebene Sound ist klar und scharf. Allerdings muss man die Lautstärke deutlich hochdrehen, um die volle Kraft des GSP 602 genießen zu können, da tiefere Frequenzen bei leiseren Lautstärken etwas gedämpft durchkommen. Das hat aber den Nachteil, das der Sound im oberen Lautstärkebereich nicht mehr ganz so ausgewogen wirkt und der bereits im unteren Lautstärkebereich sehr dominante Bass zum Dröhnen neigt. Die größte Stärke des GSP 602 liegt aber an der punktgenauen Ortung. In CSGO zb. konnte ich stets einwandfrei die Position unserer Gegner haargenau ermitteln und mir somit einen kleinen Vorteil verschaffen.

Abschließend widmen wir uns noch dem unidirektionalen Mikrofon, das mit einem Frequenzbereich von 10–18,000 Hz genügend Spielraum bietet ohne überempfindlich zu wirken. Die Stimme wird in sämtlichen Anwendungsbereichen klar und deutlich übertragen und überzeugt somit in allen Belangen.

SOLIDES STEREO HEADSET

Obwohl ich ein Fan von virtual surround Gaming Headsets bin, habe ich das EPOS│SENNHEISER GSP 602 dennoch schnell ins Herz geschlossen. Das liegt unter anderem an dem schicken Design, an der großartigen Verarbeitung, an der punktgenauen Ortung und vor allem an der glasklaren Soundqualität.

Abgerundet wird das stimmige Paket mit einem großartigen Tragekomfort und einem soliden Mikrofon, das in sämtlichen Bereichen unsere Stimme klar und deutlich übermittelt. Mit einer unverbindlichen Preisempfehlung von knapp 220€ ist das EPOS│SENNHEISER GSP 602 zwar nicht ganz billig, aber jeden Cent wert.
